The Harford Story

For more than 40 years, Harford Greenhouses has been helping New Zealand and Australian growers build, equip, and grow with confidence. From a single backyard tunnel house to one of the largest commercial greenhouse installations in the country, we've been there at every scale. And we're as committed to that mission today as when we started.

Founded in Christchurch in the early 1980s by Kevin and Anne Harford, the business grew from a small local manufacturer into one of New Zealand's foremost greenhouse and crop-cover specialists. Through continual product development and close collaboration with growers and suppliers nationwide, Harfords built a reputation for durable, high-performance structures and knowledgeable, approachable service.

That reputation owes much to Doug Taylor, who has been part of the Harfords story for more than 33 years. Doug took ownership of the business in 2015 and steered it with the same care and commitment that has always defined the company. In February 2026, ownership passed to Claire and David Bennison, marking a new chapter in the company's family-owned story. The team, the expertise, and the values remain the same, with a renewed energy and focus behind them.

What We Do

Harford Greenhouses is a complete, one-stop supplier for growers at every scale. Our greenhouse structures range from compact backyard units through to commercial installations exceeding 6,000m², with configurations and price points to suit any crop type or budget.

For clients who want a fully managed solution, our team handles design, supply, and installation, supported by our in-house installers and a nationwide network of approved contractors. And because our support doesn't stop at the build, we provide ongoing repairs, maintenance, and replacement parts for Harford structures throughout New Zealand and Australia.

Beyond the structure itself, we manufacture and supply a wide range of growing equipment and accessories, including propagation tables, rolling tables, trolleys, NFT frames and channel, and strawberry frames. For growers moving into hydroponic production, we offer comprehensive systems including full NFT setups, controllers, nutrient dosing solutions, and complete irrigation and reticulation systems.

We're also proud to be New Zealand agents for Botanicoir and Lego grow media and substrates, two globally respected brands that complement our growing systems range.
