Botanicoir Precision Plus Ultra Grow Slab, Washed & Buffered

Precision Plus Ultra (PPU) is Botanicoir's premium strawberry substrate, produced across Botanicoir's own facilities in Sri Lanka and India from a blend of 40% cocopeat and 60% coarser coir particles. PPU describes this blend rather than how the coir has been washed or buffered: the added coir particles give better drainage and aeration around the root zone than Botanicoir's standard Precision Plus (PP) range, which is 100% coir fibre and holds more moisture with less drainage. A PPU slab can also be used for a second year of planting.

This listing is Botanicoir's washed and buffered treatment of PPU: the natural calcium and magnesium lockout common in untreated coir has already been addressed before it reaches you, so plants can establish without the usual settling in period. Each slab measures 1000mm x 200mm x 80mm, around 16 litres, and comes pre-cut with 8 planting holes in an offset pattern, plus 4 dripper holes and drainage holes, ready to plant into. It holds an EC under 0.3 mS/cm and a pH between 5.5 and 7.5 straight out of the bag, with water holding capacity around 55% and air filled porosity around 25%, giving roots a good balance of moisture and oxygen. Botanicoir is ISO 9001 and 14001 certified and OMRI listed for organic use, and these slabs are well suited to strawberry tabletop and gutter systems, propagation, and greenhouse vegetable growing.

This slab is also available from Botanicoir in their super washed treatment (EC under 0.6 mS/cm), a lighter treatment than the washed and buffered option above. We don't currently hold stock of this option, so if you're after it, get in touch with our team at sales@harfords.com and we'll sort out a price and lead time for you.
