Portable Crop Protector

The Portable Crop Protector© (PCP©) has been developed for the vegetable, flower and young stock rearing market for a low cost.

The design has a wide span of both 6m and 6.5m which allows the maximum amount of plants per square metre. The design of the Harfords PCP© greenhouse has a straight column of between 900mm and 1.2m giving easy access for small tractors right up to the side walls. The PCP© has open sides and open ends and a single skin 200 micron roof. Ends are an optional extra.

The Harfords PCP© is fully portable with a steel peg system anchoring it firmly into the ground. It is designed to be constructed in a sheltered area.

The design of the structure allows for the covers to be put on the frames when your crop or stock is in need of the cover the most. A simple cliplock system attached to the side purlin has a PVC insert which is easily removed to release the covers and can be reused for the next season, thus saving on cover wear.

The frames are fully galvanised steel and will last a lifetime, and the covers as supplied have a 48 month warranty against UV breakdown.

This structure is the latest in the Harford's Range and is proving to be very popular in many ways.

Standard Specifications

  • Size: Single span 6m or 6.5m with length modules of 3m starting at 6,9,12,15, etc. Non-extendable in width.
  • Ventilation: Open sides, open ends
  • Covers: Single skin roof only, using 200 micron plastic film c/w 48 month UV warranty based on a pro rata basis
  • Framework: Galvanised steel using frame guard tape in areas where plastic comes into contact with steel.
  • Plastic Fixing: Harford’s Clip Lock, two piece fastening reusable PVC insert. Also Aluminium Insert available.
  • Column Height: 800mm, 1.0m, 1.2m high
  • Doors: none
  • Roof Pitch: 20mm galvanised steel pipe, straight sides, galvanised 25mm leg. Designed for a sheltered site, also covers are designed to be removed every year, particularly in the windy season.
  • Foundation Style: 500mm of the column is vibrated into the height of the 5mm flat plate, 2- 500mm long H16 reo rods are driven through a plate welded to the column on opposite angles to tightly lock the column to the ground.
  • Construction: Available as Kitset ex-factory Christchurch with casual telephone assistance during construction, or fully assembled by Harford Greenhouses construction teams.
